The Journey of a Phenomenon can be defined by clear stages.

1. The Core Concept

A charismatic leader or figureheads propose a new and transcendent idea pledging a cure for disconnected individuals.

Thus we find ourselves. Plans are in motion to storm the compound in Australia. Pressure is mounting. Signs of trouble appear from within. A lone figure, naked, nervous, the words HIGH RELEASE POINT smeared across his chest in chicken blood, has come staggering into view and is removed with discretion to a different team elsewhere.

Do you recall the start, when everything was fresh? The days of Bazball 1.0, of uninhibited aggression.

2. Love-Bombing

Team architects promise a fresh beginning, optimism ahead, support, salvation within a community who all believe in the philosophy.

What did it represent at first? Players celebrating basking in glory. Ink. Strength. Determination. Peak performance vibes. Of course, The team insist Bazball doesn’t actually exist, amusingly as it’s denied, what did we see?

Yet it’s clear the concept. It’s Harry Brook playing a shot so unconventional it’s beyond belief. It’s the thrill of the leader in his final form, an expression conveying: thoughtful warrior, rugged appearance, hair woven from beaver hide, truly contemporary you half-expect to glance over and find him positioned on the ground stripped to the waist and cradling a wild salmon.

It’s the batsman often seen addressing the media, appearing as a happy little woodland creature smartly dressed, uttering phrases such as we’re challenging norms. Certainly, the energy, initially, was only good energy.

3. Expansion Period

Building period. Togetherness strengthened through repetition of mantras. These beliefs are often illogical as a loyalty check.

Does anyone else feel? The criticism, the fury, the feeling of letdown post-defeat feels overblown, overdone. The performance was poor in Perth, as history shows. 4. External Conflict

Seeking change, to build a better atmosphere, they are mirroring their own experience, building another enclosure, a limited community, but doing it this time with a modern squad and a coach who wants you to be yourself if you fit the mold.

Focus on the moment. Embrace challenges. Despite efforts, you’re always basically in the same place.
