It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their batsmen to possess a record if not afforded the possibility.

Finally, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fail again.

If this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was far harder to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it was a frustrating experience because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was underway.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was removed her side required another 66 at one run per ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the belief to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

These statements will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

In recent days a sense they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

However although she later admitted those injuries have pushed back plans to retire, this World Cup is likely to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as leader.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
